Pier at the Sound School is overflowing with trash and fishing line. Trash all over the pier.
  • 20 Simos Lane West Haven, CT 06516, USA - West Haven
The lower road (Simos Lane?) is a dumping ground. Found these two items yesterday on my run with the dog. This road needs to be closed to car traffic and made part of a public greenway/trail system. Dumping this close to the Cove River is an environmental hazard. If there are visual signs of dumping what other pollutants are being dumped as cars and trucks have access to this important estuary.

In Ray Park between Chestnut and Church there is hundreds of plastic bags, bottles, and other trash items from someone taking up residence between the two trails. Homeowners on Chestnut need to take note especially as this leads to their backyards. The trash needs to be cleaned and the homeless situation in our parks and estuaries needs to be addressed.

Another lingering project. Is there a time frame for this repair. I access this pier with my bike and fishing gear. I also know of an elderly gentleman in a wheelchair that fishes this pier. (Used to)

Is there a timeframe on fixing this? Placing cones does only shows an awareness of the problem. It's a major hazard as it drops down 6feet in to the ocean.

Maybe a temporary sign that indicates this all can be brought to the compost site.
  • 370 Painter Drive West Haven, CT 06516, USA - West Haven
Along the lower road people are still dumping. I've cleaned up a few trails that lead to the river. Please have a truck swing by to pick up the trash. Thanks. Together we can get the Waste out of Waste Haven.

I know this isn't a priority for most, but for those who use the wonderful open spaces along the shore this has been something that needs repair for a long time. The river outlet is an important part of the estuary ecosystem. Many people fish and crab in this river. Even though there is a small path around the fence I was told by a lifeguard that you cannot stand in the bridge because it may collapse??? If its that bad then it's imperative that this is replaced for the safety of people and the vital ecosystem that flows in and out of the river. There must be a way to secure funds to replace this bridge. It's the small projects that will make secure out shoreline as a place of ecological health and growth and that of our own. Please consider this as something important.

Water fountain has been broken for so time. This is needed on this end of the boardwalk.
  • 311 Kelsey Avenue West Haven, CT 06516, USA - West Haven
These high traffic areas need to be clearly marked to make for a safer pedestrian zone.
  • 2-44 Beach Street West Haven, CT 06516, USA - West Haven
Trash in the third ave. parking lot. This wouldn't fit in a trash pail. Even if it would there are NO TRASH barrels in this lot.
  • 2-306 Savin Avenue West Haven, CT 06516, USA - West Haven
Here we go again. This is such a problem. I realize its difficult to find out who is doing this. Logically it has to be people living in the condos. What solutions have been discussed? Can you fine the condo complex? does the condo complex educate their tenants about bulk trash? What about putting a few large planters there? Something!!! But for now this needs to be removed. It's a hazard.
  • 2-44 Beach Street West Haven, CT 06516, USA - West Haven
There are no trash pails in the parking lot. Fishing season has begun and there is lots people coming and going and no place to throw out trash. Now it's all over the lot and blowing in to the marsh.
  • 523 Ocean Avenue West Haven, CT 06516, USA - West Haven
I took this picture almost a month ago while out on a run. I know others have seen it too. It's unfortunate that residents ( or possibly someone out of town) don't follow the towns recycling program. This is besides the point. The television has been there and no town official or employee has cleaned this up. There must be some protocol for trash dumped in lots, parks, or beaches. One push and this television is in the Long Island sound.

Soccer season is in full swing and the fields look good (some spots on the fields need attention). However, the parking lot is in bad shape. I've heard two cars bottom out last night on the mounds shown in the photo attached. Other cars have been parking in front of these mounds because it looks like a barrier rather than the actual road in the parking lot. On Saturdays the lot is full, so this lot needs some cleaning.
